Looking for ways to use your Lavender EO?
Our aromatherapy expert, Dr. Nicole bou Khalil shares her insightful tips with you.

Lavender essential oil (EO) is a versatile, safe and easy to use EO. No wonder it is such a popular EO worldwide!
Here are my tips to harness its benefits safely and effectively in some commonly encountered cases:

A Skin burn?

If you have a minor burn or skin inflammation, Lavender EO can be your go-to remedy. Apply two drops of undiluted lavender EO directly to the affected area as soon as possible. Follow this with a carrier oil or an aloe vera gel to soothe and moisturize the skin. Repeat this process by mixing two drops of lavender EO with two drops of a carrier oil, applying it to the area 3-4 times a day. Please note that while in urgent cases, like burns, undiluted EO can be used, it will be done once and for a short period of time. I always advise to dilute an EO with a carrier oil, to avoid potential skin irritation over time. Also remember, not all essential oils can be used directly on the skin, so choose your EO wisely.

Menstraul pain or cramps?

To alleviate menstrual pain, blend one or two drops of lavender EO with one drop of Roman chamomile EO in 5 ml of a carrier oil such as almond oil. Gently massage this mixture onto the painful area for about 10 to 15 minutes. The pain reduction and discomfort will be noticeable!

An exam or a crucial interview? Feeling nervous with a pounding heart?

No worries…Inhaling Lavender EO will help calm your nerves and heart beats rapidly! Just apply two drops of lavender EO to your solar plexus and one drop on your wrists and inhale deeply. This will induce a quick relaxation!

Feeling anxious? Having sleep difficulties?

For these mild and transient cases, Lavender is the ideal EO to relax your mood and calm your nerves:

      • Place a few drops of lavender EO on a handkerchief and inhale deeply. The calming aroma of lavender will help ease your mind.
      • Create a stress -free ambiance by mixing a few drops of Fine lavender EO with Orange EO (essence) and let it diffuse in the room.
      • For a restful night’s sleep, use this mix to diffuse in your room before going to bed.
      • In times of high exposure, lavender EO is an effective remedy to prevent and treat lice infestations. Check our “blending with Lavender section” and follow the steps to keep these little creatures at bay!
      • You can also add a few drops of Fine lavender EO to your pillow for a regenerating night experience.

Is your child having some anxiety or fears before going to bed?

When applying an EO on the skin, always perform a patch test before first application.
Remember to diffuse intermittently, typically 15 minutes per hour, rather than continuously. Avoid diffusing in the presence of asthmatics or children under six years old.
