Tamanu
Tamanu is a nut tree whose seeds have been used for hundreds of years for their medicinal purposes. More recently, products made from tamanu oil have been lauded for improving skin and hair health, as well as improving acne and healing wounds. High concentrations of antibacterial agents help protect the skin against some of the bacterial strains that cause acne, while the anti-inflammatory properties of tamanu soothe the skin. It also stimulates collagen production, with a moisturizing effect that heals scars and stretch marks. The sun can certainly be harsh on the skin, but the fatty acids in tamanu oil are known to help keep the skin moisturized and prevent wrinkles caused by sun damage. Finally, when used as a mask, tamanu oil encourages stronger, longer, healthier hair, hydrating hair while bringing out the hair’s natural sheen.
