Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil is extracted from the peppermint plant and has been used medicinally and cosmetically as far back as in ancient Egypt. This fragrant oil is also one of the most versatile essential oils, since it can heal an itchy scalp, soothe a sore throat, relieve itchy insect bites, stimulate hair growth, and reduce the appearance of acne. Peppermint can be used as a natural facial scrub and cleanser to rejuvenate skin and is even effective on dry, itchy, or sensitive skin. It also is known to clear acne and decongest pores, thanks to its menthol properties. When left on a pimple overnight, it reduces redness and draws out excess oil. Its hydrating properties also make it a great solution for healing sunburn and moisturizing the skin. When applied to the scalp, it increases blood circulation, nourishing hair and boosting growth, while also cleaning the roots. When inhaled in aromatherapy, it can be used to relieve headaches and tension, combatting stress and anxiety, as well as relieving nausea and symptoms of morning sickness.
