Coriander

Coriander or cilantro is an aromatic herb extensively used around the world that has a pungent aroma and is often used in cooking. The leaves are an excellent source of fiber, calcium, magnesium, manganese, and iron and it also contains ascorbic acid, vitamin C, and phytonutrients. Coriander contains cineole, which has antirheumatic and anti-arthritic properties that reduce swelling and inflammation. When applied topically, the herb has detoxifying and antiseptic properties that can clear up eczema and combat fungal infections. Additionally, the oral extracts and essential oils of coriander have demonstrated anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. This helps heal ulcers and treat inflammatory bowel disease. These same properties are also known to protect against nerve-cell damage and many have suggested that the plant may have applications in treating Alzheimer’s disease.
