Comfrey
Comfrey is a shrub native to parts of Europe, Asia, and North America that produces clusters of blue, purple, and white flowers. The roots of the comfrey plant contain allantoin and rosmarinic acid that boost the growth of new skin cells and relieve pain and inflammation. The root extracts can be used in creams and ointments to treat inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis and gout. Comfrey also contains skin strengthening minerals, including vitamin C, calcium, and manganese. While comfrey is an excellent and natural topical remedy, health authorities advise abstaining from internal use, due to potential liver damage and toxicity.
